Apprenticeships

York Learning offer a number of Apprenticeships.

Apprenticeships are available to anyone over the age of 16, living in England and have no upper age limit. Our Apprentices at York learning are between 16 and 60 years old.

Apprenticeships combine practical training in a new, or existing job role, with study at home. You may also need to complete or produce certificates for Maths and English qualifications.

The national minimum wage (NMW) for apprentices in their first year or for those under 18 is £4.81 per hour from April 2022, however if you are already employed your wages will not alter.

Apprenticeships start at Level 2 and now end at Bachelors or Master Degree Level.

This qualification meets the needs of learners who work with children in a wide range of settings, for example in the roles of:

• Early Years Educator
• Child-minder
• Nursery Practitioner

To achieve the Early Years Educator Qualification at Level 3 you will need to complete 13 mandatory units, plus 4 assignments.

The Early Years Educator qualification provides the theory behind childcare, along with practical experience working in a childcare environment. It is a formal qualification offering knowledge of all aspects of childcare and its core values.
You will need maths and English GCSE at grade 4 or above or Functional skills Level 2 in order to make this a full and relevant qualification.
You can start this course on a date convenient to you. The assessment takes place through portfolio work. You will meet, 1-1, with your tutor for training and support on Skype/Zoom/Email/Phone calls and, when possible, face to face at work or at home.
Your course will last approximately 12 – 18 months.

The qualification is for anyone who is involved in any customer focused role in any industry.

The qualification covers a range of topics:

• Developing self to achieve targets and goals
• Recognition of regulations and legislation within own organisation
• Principles of business
• Contributing to a customer focused experience
• Providing customer service
• Managing customer expectations

You can start this course on a date convenient to you. The assessment takes place through portfolio work. You will meet with your tutor on Zoom, with fellow learners, for training and support. This enables you to complete the course from the workplace or your home.
Your course will last approximately 12 months.

The qualification is for anyone who is involved in any customer specialist role, such as customer service manager, customer service team leader and customer service executive. These could be in any types of environment including contact centres, retail, webchat, service industry or any customer service point.

As part of the role the customer specialist acts as a point of contact to support customers and colleagues with complex requests, complaints and queries, also implementing changes to improve services.

The qualification covers a range of topics:

• Developing self
• Customer service legislation, regulation, policies and procedures
• Effective team working
• Brand, image and reputation
• Business knowledge and understanding in a customer service environment
• Specialist customer service knowledge and skills
• Handling and resolving complex customer service issues
• Improvement to customer service delivery

You can start this course on a date convenient to you. The assessment takes place through portfolio work. You will meet, 1-1, with your tutor for training and support on Skype/Zoom/Email/Phone calls and, when possible, face to face at work or at home.
Your course will last approximately 12 months.

The Level 3 Business Admin qualification is for people who want to work in administrative support roles in public or private sector organisations. A qualification in Business and Administration can help you succeed in a support role in any size or type of organisation.

These roles include:

• Secretary
• Receptionist
• Administrator
• Personal assistant
• Office supervisor/team leader
• Manager

You can start this course on a date convenient to you. The assessment takes place through portfolio work. You will meet, 1-1, with your tutor for training and support on Skype/Zoom/Email/Phone calls and, when possible, face to face at work or at home.
Your course will last approximately 12 months.

The qualification is designed for Team Leaders taking their first step into line management, or those with some experience of managing a team or operational and project responsibilities to deliver clearly defined outcomes.

The qualification provides learners with the knowledge and skills in leadership and management such as:

  • problem solving
  • team building and development
  • project management
  • communication

Information for Employers

Apprentices can be categorised in 2 ways.

Current Staff – Your current staff can complete an Apprenticeship whist remaining on the same wages and hours and completing the same job. A ‘Levy paying’ employer will fund this through their Levy. A ‘Non-Levy paying’ employer will pay 5% towards the Apprenticeship. (The Government will pay the other 95%)

New Staff – We can help you to recruit an Apprentice through the National Apprenticeship Website.
This will include:
• Advertising the Apprenticeship Position
• Selecting appropriate candidates
• Completing 1st Stage Interviews
• Forwarding Application and interview forms to you
• Organising training for your new Apprentice

Please remember that if your Apprentice is 18 years old or under (current or new) you will receive £1000 bursary from the Government.
