[sm_column_text]Today marks 75 years since the end of World War Two in Europe, known as VE Day, on the 8th May 1945. Across the country, street parties and celebrations were held to mark the end of the war, whilst those who did not return and those who were still at war in other parts of the world were remembered.
We’re unable to have the celebrations we might have planned, but there are lots of ways you can join in and remember the events of that day. In the spirit of learning, our challenge today is to try and find out something new about VE Day and the events 75 years ago. What didn’t you know before today?
You’ll find lots of information about the history of VE Day and ideas for how to celebrate on the British Legion’s website and many communities are finding their own ways to celebrate safely. Why not join your neighbours for a physically distant street party from your doorstep this afternoon?
