Your York Learning Google account will give you access to both email and to your online classroom.
There are two ways you can log in – via your google email account, or direct to Google Classroom.
Open Gmail in your browser. If you can use Chrome, this works best. Sign into your York Learning gmail account using the account name and password you’ve been sent. You will be asked to set a new password.
NOTE: If you have a personal gmail address, then you will have two Google accounts. Make sure you select the right one when signing in to your York Learning gmail or Classroom. You can do this by clicking on the coloured circle in the top right of the screen. The circle will usually contain your initial, unless you’ve added an image.
Your tutor will send you an email inviting you to join your Google Classroom for the course. Click on the blue Join button in the email to get started.
Type classroom.google.com into your search bar. Your dashboard will appear – again, check you are in your York Learning account, not a personal google account. Any classes you have been invited to will be on the dashboard with a blue Join button.
Alternatively, you may be given a code in the first week of your course. To join using a code, click the + button in the top right of the Classroom dashboard. You will be prompted to put in the code.

Work will be filed in the Classwork tab – circled in red above. There may be topic areas, or a week-by-week set of materials.
Your tutor will explain how to use Google Classroom to find, complete and hand in work in the first few weeks of your course.
