'Toppers' Headwear Project

In 2024, York Learning students teamed up with York College and the Leveson Centre to make a range of head coverings for people who have experienced hair loss.

The designs were put together by York College student Emma Hogg as part of her BA (Hons) Fashion Design and Garment Technology degree course at York College’s University Centre, in conjunction with focus groups organised via York Against Cancer’s Leveson Centre. The headwear is being produced by a group of York Learning’s dressmaking students, and distributed by the Leveson Centre where local cancer patients can try on the range of designs in a private space and order a bespoke piece in their choice of colours.
